‘Through Their Lens’ is an ongoing photography project which is used as a participation and engagment tool during the initial stages of architecture projects with communities. Kids from the community are given disposable cameras to record their lives, and when they are done the films are developed for them to see and for us to share. The results can be candid, naive, simple, and harrowing, but always beautiful.
TTL has come about from collecting together photos from a number of projects, shown here is a small selection of images from photography workshops I have run in India and Ghana. These photos have been profoundly influential when I have been designing for these deprived communities.
Through Their Lens has been made possible through the support of ISA Charity
